Hex Bar Block Pull
A great deadlift variation that focuses on hinge mechanics while shortening the range of motion with the pads under the plates. It still requires similar firing of the glutes/hamstring, as well as hip drive, but the shortened movement taxes the erectors less, and is overall a safer pull from the floor.
Not only does the banded pushup add an increased level of resistance on the concentric portion of the movement, but it forces a controlled eccentric. The individual must resist against the band as he lowers himself to the ground, which allows greater firing capabilities as he pushes back up.
Kneeling Dumbbell Hang Clean
Olympic lifts can be very technique driven and difficult to master, especially for athletes whose main goal is to increase performance in their sport. This kneeling dumbbell clean variation provides a lower risk movement versus the typical standing version. The kneeling position forces the lifter to focus on proper hinge mechanics while working on achieving maximal hip extension.
